On October 15, 2019, The Democratic National Committee (DNC), in partnership with CNN and The New York Times co-hosted the fourth Democratic debate of the 2020 election. The location of this event happened to be right in our backyard at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. With the suburbs’ changing political character in mind, the DNC strategically chose Otterbein as the place to feature 12 candidates on stage together as they discussed where they stand on key political issues.

From coordination with community partners to CNN hiring 120 students to work the event, a lot needed to be done to make the debate a success. Join Central Ohio PRSA on February 20 as we go behind the scenes with four panelists who were directly involved with the planning and execution of the largest presidential primary debate in recorded American political history. Panelists include:

  • Jennifer Hill, Director of Marketing & Communications, Otterbein University
  • Roberto Ponce, Executive Director, Marketing & Communications, Otterbein University
  • Matthew D'Oyly, Director of Events and Conferences, Otterbein University
  • Aselya Sposato, Class of ’21, Otterbein University

  • Andy Chow, Journalist, Ohio Statehouse News Bureau
