PRSA CENTRAL OHIO HIGHLIGHTS DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Coming off the heels of Black History Month in February and diving into the heart of Women’s History Month in March, we celebrate African Americans and women who have made significant contributions and helped shape U.S. history. A few notable American abolitionists, liberators, suffragists and/or women’s rights activists include Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and more. They sacrificed and paved the way for many PRSA Central Ohio Chapter members today, but they also remind us of the imperative values our chapter embraces and highlights: diversity and inclusion (D&I).

PRSA Central Ohio leadership is committed to increasing diverse membership within our chapter and continuing to embrace and build an inclusive culture. The Board of Directors is actively establishing a D&I plan this year, but we cannot develop an inclusive and successful one without you – we welcome your involvement throughout the process. Please be on the lookout for more information, and we look forward to your participation.

Additionally, PRSA Central Ohio offers a variety of events pertaining to D&I including a progressive series of stand-alone webinars in the first quarter of 2021 to educate chapter members about racism and anti-racism.

  • The first of the three-part series was held Thursday, February 25 and featured Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Shayne Downton of United Way of Central Ohio who discussed understanding racism and anti-racism.
  • The second webinar is Thursday, March 25 from noon to 1:00 p.m. and features President & Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Hightower of the Columbus Urban League to talk about racist experiences she has encountered and witnessed in the workplace, as well as the importance of anti-racism in creating inclusive cultures.
  • Stay tuned for the third webinar which will be Thursday, April 22.

Join PRSA Central Ohio as we work together to pave the way in building an even more diverse, inclusive, and successful chapter for current and future members.
